About Us

The Arc of Arizona

The Arc of Arizona is a 501c3 agency incorporated in 1958. It currently has over 1000 members with twelve local affiliate chapters. The Arc of Arizona supports itself primarily through the fundraising efforts of the Thrift Zone store, private donations and program contracts with the Division of Developmental Disabilities. The volunteers and staff who comprise The Arc of Arizona are individuals with developmental disabilities, parents and friends of individuals with developmental disabilities, educators and professionals in the human services field.

Mission Statement

The Arc of Arizona advocates for the rights and full community participation of all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Together with our network of members and affiliated chapters, we improve systems of supports and services, connect families, inspire communication and influence public policy.

The Arc of the United States

The Arc of the United States is a national grassroots organization of and for people with cognitive, intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. This organization was formed in 1950 by parents, individuals with disabilities and other concerned citizens. Today The Arc of the United States has more than 250,000 members with approximately 2,000 state and local affiliates, making it the second largest volunteer national health agency in the country.

Position Statements

Affiliate Arc Chapters

The Arc provides advocacy and support services for people with developmental disabilities and their families throughout the state through its network of affiliate local chapters. These local chapters offer a full continuum of services that include residential supports, job training and supported work programs, day programs, respite, family supports, Arc sponsored conferences and workshops, and resource/information and advocacy for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
