Why Should You Care About State and Federal Legislation?

Your life is affected by laws and the money they may take away or add to programs and services you may need the funding available for the programs/services you need gets reviewed every year - it is not guaranteed.

Your Role

  • Vote! Learn about the issues affecting you and make informed voting decisions based upon what you learn www.azdisabilityvote.org
  • Talk to your Senators and Legislators all year long - help them to learn about issues important to the disability community
  • Share your stories - with the legislators, your local newspaper, TV stations, etc.
  • Write letters to your legislators about issues affecting your family - but keep the letters short (no more than one page and one subject) and direct.
  • E-mail your legislators and share your story
  • Use the State of Arizona ALIS tracking system to keep track of legislation important to you and to voice your opinion

TOGETHER, WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF PEOPLE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL AND COGNITIVE DISABILITIES!
